2025 ALBUMS OF THE YEAR
TSR presents their individual Top 10 albums of 2025.
LUNDI - TOP 10 ALBUMS
10. Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer
A complete front to back electronic exploration of a sub-genre that was most popular when Ninajirachi was just 6 years old. Adding the personal touch of this up-and-coming producer’s love for her computer makes for a very memorable and invigorating expereince.
9. Just Mustard - WE WERE JUST HERE
We thank the ever so important Robert Smith of The Cure for Just Mustard’s turn in sound. Their third album is glossy, dreamy and most importantly an electrifying noise rock display.
8. Sorry - COSPLAY
Pulling each sub-genre inside out and bending them to satisfaction worth holding on for. Restless and jagged, a magnetic album that sticks long with you after the record stops spinning.
7. Greet Death - Die in Love
A PSA to young rock bands. The pure rock-n-roll days are not done but get yourself two or three guitarists to carry the flow. Of course, it helps when you write this profoundly.
6. Viagra Boys - viagr aboys
Hilarity ensues whenever Viagra Boys take over the speakers, but these surface level laughs are built on some of the most important issues plaguing society. A truly unique and random experience.
5. Model/Actriz - Pirouette
A theatrical delivery of dance meets punk. Polished and sharp, Model/Actriz evolve into an intimate, honest and gravitating outfit.
4. ROSALIA - LUX
An artistic flex. Her voice, the languages, the orchestra arrangements. Simply exceptional. No other artist could pull this off, be thankful for Rosalia.
3. Car Seat Headrest - The Scholars
Setting the bar high and delivering wins me over with Toledo’s rock opera album. Any negativity about the plot is fair, but every second is meaningful, and it lands the attempt thematically.
2. Wednesday - Bleeds
1. Geese - Getting Killed
The token indie rock choice of the year. This writer is no different. Like so many, yours truly has been mesmerized by the greatness of Cameron Winter.
REID - TOP 10 ALBUMS
10. Japanese Breakfast - For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women)
High expectations can ruin initial impact of art but it’s clear as time passes the uber talented indie front woman Michelle Zauner has delivered yet another quality record. An angelic voice, exquisite songwriting and attention to the finer details elevate this soft collection of tunes.
9. Lady Gaga - MAYHEM
Tapping into her former self to deliver a pop reckoning. Gaga is an undeniable talent who delivers a banger album, further solidifying her case as one of the best pop stars to ever do it.
8. Wolf Alice - The Clearing
A complete front to back listen with a handful of standout tracks. Versatile effort from a veteran band who are willing to pivot in an effort to gain popularity beyond their indie acclaim.
7. Balu Brigada - Portal
Infectious alt-pop that’s genuinely fun. Groovy and funky in the best of ways, this accessible listen could find home in all music lovers’ libraries.
6. Turnstile - NEVER ENOUGH
If there’s a rock band who can rise to the headliner level, it’s Turnstile. Never Enough sees the band follow up its predecessor in all the right ways while giving the album its own flare and energy.
5. Wednesday - Bleeds
In awe of this band’s skillset. Country, punk, grunge and more come to life in a revolving door of musical output. Wednesday suck you into their world and deliver an extremely pleasing record.
4. Deftones - private music
Veterans of their craft, each member so interconnected musically and emotionally. Chino is a master and Deftones deserve all the flowers. It took a while, but I’m officially in on this band. Time to dig into the catalogue.
3. Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer
This rookie is a complete genius. Nonstop fun thematically and musically. An insightful album on who this young artist is that makes waves in the electronic world.
2. Geese - Getting Killed
Cameron Winter is a mega talent, who has experienced a well-deserved coming out party in 2025. A special band, a special record and a thirst to see how big this can grow.
1. Clipse - Let God Sort ‘Em Out
An instant classic. Virginia brothers Pusha T and Malice return with an absolute vengeance. Cold, calculated lyrics over legendary beats from producer Pharrell results in the best album of 2025.
ROZ - TOP 10 ALBUMS
10. Balu Brigada - Portal
An impressive debut from the New Zealand duo. Gritty, raw and extremely catchy. Indie rock banger after indie rock banger.
9. Lady Gaga - MAYHEM
The queen of pop cemented; coming into a new era with new stars and completely blowing them all away. Stellar 2010s-era productions, unmatched performance and a one of a kind aura.
8. Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer
The perfect ode to an introvert’s life through the lens of an electronic artist. Artistry and songwriting skills that make her stand out among the vast sea electronic producers. As organic as it is digital.
7. Billy Woods - Golliwog
A true horror movie experience - only the monster Billy Woods turns the spotlight on is the monstrosity of human nature. Uncomfortable texture and constant tension making for a visceral experience.
6. Sorry - COSPLAY
The direction indie rock needs to go. Unapologetically weird, daring to experiment without even caring about what sticks - Sorry is all of that and more.
5. Clipse - Let God Sort ‘Em Out
Rap legends living up to any and all expectations, if not exceeding.
4. FKA Twigs - EUSEXUA
Peering into the secret life of someone’s journal made public as they slowly find themselves through raw experience. Dark, euphoric and sweaty. Complex music productions coupled with a stellar performance from one of Art Pop’s best.
3. Wednesday - Bleeds
Unmatched lyrical skillset transporting the listener into the Wednesday world. Share in the experience of the stories and absorb every small facet of Karly Hartzman’s upbringing.
2. Panda Bear - Sinister Grift
A heartbreak album unlike any other. A reincarnated Pet Sound’s for the modern age. Melancholic yet upbeat; what sounds so alive, masks the reality of the complex emotions underneath.
1. Geese - Getting Killed
It’s the future. How lucky are we to be able to see rock music evolve in front of our very own eyes. Mesmerizing forceful music from artists well beyond their years. A mad rock scientist lab experiment gone horribly right.
